Ancient music ensemble Djembe was founded at Novosibirsk City Drama Theatre in 1995. The group is involved in the study and performing of ancient music by means of various authentic and exotic instruments. In a short time after the foundation the band compiled a programm "Medieval Hits" consisting of various medieval epoch "hits" (Saltarello, Palestinalit etc.). In 1997 the new program was ready. It's called "Triumph of the East" and is dedicated to old eastern and jewish music. The art leader of this group is Igor Tiuvaev, restless populariser of ancient music, who founded his first medieval collective Festa Musicale in 1986. At present moment two CDs of the band are about to be released.
They are "Medieval Hits" and the album "By the Roads of Crusades" containing live recordings of 1998-1999. Their composition "Tourdion" taken from yet unreleased CD "Medieval Hits" appeared on Russian Gothic Compilation.
